ON ASSIGNMENT!
Pastor Charles Jenkins teaches us that God speaks to us through: thoughts, ideas, and situations. Last night He spoke to me through another person’s situation. I believe this was one of God’s amazing strategies, in that He arranged for me to be exactly where I was just to hear this from someone I barely even knew. Nevertheless, this all occurred in my business class last night. A woman, in her mid 50’s and strong believer in Jesus Christ, shared how a while back she endured a miscarriage. While in the hospital she, in much pain mentally and physically, found that the nurses were not as attentive as they should have been (to her and the other women that were waiting to be called, and who had also endured miscarriages). She said that she immediately became very angry and then frustrated, but how God didn’t allow her to react negatively . In that trying time, she said that God spoke to her and said “these people are all hopeless; you are on assignment even in this”. She said that the Holy Spirit immediately moved her to encourage and pray for the other women in the waiting area, and respectfully address her concerns with nurses (but not in frustration). She said she left the hospital feeling 100% better than she did when she came in. See, the awesome thing is that after she told everyone all of this, the Spirit immediately moved us to a discussion about Calvary. We began to converse about how Jesus was on the cross, with two criminals on both sides of Him, and how one of them believed the power of God and knew that Jesus was Lord. He believed! Jesus’ forgave him and assured him that he would be permitted into the Kingdom. If Jesus was on assignment as He hung and, profusely, bled on the cross, then surely we are on assignment in this fancy world we live in. Jesus physically saved a soul while He was being crucified. THE REVELATION: If our Savior was on assignment on Calvary, then we are, no doubt, on assignment during the roughest day at work, lost of a loved one, family dysfunction, highway traffic, lack of funds for shelter, and every other adversary (at all times). These are the times where the enemy will attack us most. We can't hide or ignore the prince of this earth, but we can definitely be suited in our kingdom armor when the battle arises and we're under attack. This is where that great weapon of choice comes in. If we choose to believe, protect our minds, and discipline our flesh man from the things of this world we are free from bondage. For me this has been extremely hard to do. Still, I wake up with a sane mind everyday and know that it's the only way, even in my daily failures. We have to believe this and know that we will end up in better place, than the place we are when we're going through something challenging. This is a lifestyle and absolutely nothing to play with. I feel like this generation (me) don't value the true meaning of "The Body of Christ"....we don't unite and fellowship like we should...this Body can be a strong force if we rid it from the things of this world.
